Zone of Interest is good, but I can't wait for someone to film Amis' other Holocaust novel, "Time's Arrow". That one, despite being basically a one-gimick piece, took something out of me.

I'll have to give that one a try. Full disclosure, this was the first Martin Amis novel I've read and I've clearly been missing out. But it's hard to overstate just how different the movie is from the book. And I don't mean that one is better than the other; I think both work on their own terms, but they're just completely different in tone, plot, and most of the characters. You may or may not want the same film treatment for his other novel if you're attached to it!

In that case, I might have spoiled it a little for you, and if that's true, I am sorry. But give it a read in any case. You get the hang of the main gimmick pretty quickly, but the main moment hits like a truck, even though you can guess it is coming. And, I would imagine, a similar effect can be reconstructed in a film form as well.

No, you’re good! I read a couple reviews from when it first was published and reviewers at the time also mentioned something to that effect about his other Holocaust novel. Looking forward to it.
